Restock from the Report, Not Your Gut

Restock from the Report, Not Your Gut

Marketplace panic says you are out of everything. The Inventory Health Restock report says which lines actually need units. Print page one, then load the van.

Marketplace panic has a voice. It says we are out of everything, the van should be full, and yesterday was already too late.

That voice is usually wrong.

Last week Amazon Inventory Health handed us a Restock report - not a feeling. Dozens of SKUs on the sheet. A clear replenish subset. Page one printed for the ship desk so the argument ended before anyone started loading by memory.

Here is the operator move: open the report, mark what actually needs units, print page one, then pack. Gut feel fills the wrong bins. The PDF fills the right ones.

What the report is for

  • Separate noise from need. A long SKU list is not a crisis. The replenish column is the work.
  • Give the ship desk paper. A printed page beats a Slack scroll when hands are already in cartons.
  • Ignore the panic story. "We're out of everything" is a mood. Restock is a count.

We emailed the Restock PDF and printed page one for ship - 74 SKUs on the health pull, 33 marked to replenish. That is not a flex. That is the difference between a van full of guesses and a van full of what the channel will actually sell through.

If you sell on a marketplace and you restock from anxiety, you will overship the loud SKUs and stock out the quiet ones that still move. If you restock from the report, the desk has one job: pick the lines that are red, not the lines that feel scary.

The real-world lesson: print the list. Load the van. Leave the feeling in the office.
